December is finally here!

In case you were wondering where you can take out the Summer Bunnies to have a good time, worry not. We at Jumia Travel have come up with 4 hangout joints in Westlands, perfect for hanging out  with family and friends from abroad, and have a good time while at it.

1. The Alchemist
Located along Parklands Road, The Alchemist has grown to be one of the most popular hangout joints in Westlands, and Nairobi as a whole. This rustic outdoor property has hosted Africa’s finest such as Sauti Sol, H_art The Band, Micasa and Kenyan Nights!

The Alchemist has several food trucks and joints where you can always grab something to eat as you order drinks from the bar. You haven’t really been to the Alchemist if you haven’t tasted a Mama Rocks Burger. Believe me, they are literally to die for!

The Alchemist has specials on most nights. Tuesdays are movie nights while Wednesdays feature Wadada Wednesdays, courtesy of the popular Umojah Sounds. Thursdays are mostly freestyled, dubbed Any Given Thursday, while Fridays are Electronic or House themed.

2. J’s Fresh Bar and Kitchen
Formerly known as Juniper’s Kitchen, J’s Westlands revamped and with it came a group of loyal unbowed customers. J’s Westlands is located along Waiyaki Way, opposite the Safaricom Michael Joseph Centre.

One thing that makes J’s Westlands one of the popular hangout joints in Westlands, other than its juicy ribs, is its Thursday shows.

Run by Roots International, Thursday Nite Live is a weekly entertainment platform that gives East African artistes grounds to play original acoustic, jazz, fusion and roots music. Sing along to your favorite East African songs as you sip on your favorite local beer with some nyama.

3. Nyama Mama
All 80’s and 90’s kids are guaranteed to love Nyama Mama. Nyama Mama offers an African ambiance that will have you reminiscing about your duff mpararo days when you went visiting your grand folks in the village.

From the metallic cups they use to serve cocktails to the Kenyan menu, Nyama Mama will definitely give those cousins you grew up who haven’t been back home in a long while, something to brag about on Snapchat and Instagram.

You can pop in to Nyama Mama every Wednesday for their Jamhuri Jam Sessions. Enjoy music made in Kenya, for Kenyans by Kenyans!

4. K1 Klub House
The K1 Klub House has proven to be one of the most popular hangout joints in Westlands that has stood the test of time. K1 is located along Ojijo Road in Parklands; a perfect spot to drop by on any of their theme nights.

Convince your visiting family and friends to visit K1 for the popular K1 Flea Market. The K1 Flea Market happens every Sunday, from 10 am till late. Strut in your favorite sun hat, dress and sandals and go shop from a diverse group of vendors! Before we forget. Brunch is served all day during the K1 Flea Market for 990 shillings only!
