  1. Hell’s Gate National Park

This stunning attraction is located south of Lake Naivasha. There is a lot to see and do in this park. Explore gorges, climb rocks, view wildlife, enjoy a nature walk and have a picnic in the park’s plains. Hell’s Gate is one of the best rock climbing destinations in Kenya. Wildlife to see in this park includes zebras, buffalos, gazelles and hartebeests.

  1. Crescent Island

Crescent Island is about 15 minutes by boat away from the shores of Lake Naivasha. It is one of the few places where you can enjoy a nature walk alongside wild animals. Animals to see here include wildebeests and giraffes.

  1. Lake Oloiden

Lake Oloiden is one of the least popular, but pristine places to visit in Naivasha. It is surrounded by flowers farms. Lake Oloiden’s most striking feature is its flamingos.

  1. Crater Lake

Crater Lake is just 10km from the town of Naivasha. The green coloured alkaline lake is within a game sanctuary. Enjoy game walks in this sanctuary to see birds, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and elands.

  1. Mount Longonot

Mount Longonot is one of the attractions you see when driving into the Great Rift Valley. The mauve silhouette of the 2,776m mountain stands out on the floor of the gorge, viewed from the Great Rift Valley View Point. Mount Longonot is about 90km from Nairobi, and this extinct volcano is part of Mount Longonot National Park. Animals to see here include buffalos, zebras, giraffes and gazelles. Mount Longonot is the best destination for a day hike.

  1. Kigio Wildlife Conservancy

This sanctuary belongs to the local community, who manage its 3,500 acres. Animals to see include buffalos, elands, leopards, hippos, waterbucks, and hyenas.

  1. Lake Elementaita

This soda lake is near Gilgil Town. It is situated between Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha, which are other key attractions in the Rift Valley. Lake Elementaita is a Ramsar site, and it has both greater and lesser flamingos.

  1. Kariandusi Pre-historic Site

Kariandusi confirms Kenya is the cradle of mankind. The fossils found here date back to the Early Stone Age, about a million years ago.  This attraction is close to Lake Elementaita.

  1. Ol Karia

Visit the Ol Karia Geothermal Power Plant that situated near Hell’s Gate National Park.  Adjacent to this power plant is the Ol Karia Geothermal Spa, which has naturally heated water and is a great recreation spot. The pool has water with temperatures ranging from 30oC to 40oC.

    How can one get around in the area? Are the tuk tuks or motobike drivers to hire? Thanks in advance!

      Hello Ewing. There are quite a number of motorbikes but we recommend taking a taxi or renting a car as weather changes are unpredictable in Naivasha Town.

    Mount longonot has been a great experience to me + lake naivasha but I am yet to visit the rest.
    Hoping so they are awesome .i would like to know if there are any risks in visiting the scenaries listed above
